The year 2026 has just started and I have made myself sit down and write. I am not a writer, and I do not know of any rules or guidelines, but what I do know is that I like typing. What comes out is a surprise. It can be a reminiscence, a poem, or a dwelling on the past. It is all part of me, and I’d like to share a little of my thoughts on 'paper'.
Although the year has just started, this is not a form of creating good habits with the start of a new year. I do not intend on New Year's resolutions, but instead, I create a theme for the coming year which I intend to stick to and can return to at any given time or when i feel stuck or overwhelmed, or to give myself a boost.
For this year I have written down the theme 'boundaries'. An idea comes to me and I sit with it for a while and when it sticks I will go for it. So boudaries it is.
For me, boundaries can be restrictive rules or invisible lines which can be crossed, both positively and negatively. Boundaries can help me find a clear path forward, working as guidelines. To know where boundaries are, you sometimes need to take steps above and beyond to figure out if a boundary is set correctly or if it can be widened. Typically my approache to new things are cautious, maybe I can stretch a little more to see what happens.
Literally, boundaries can be crossed, which I intend to do as September comes. The idea is to be traveling across multiple 'boundaries' as i'd like to travel to Japan and then downwards to New Zealand for a total of three months. This might also renew my own set of boundaries. Who knows!
I am happy to start this new year with this theme in mind, and I hope and wish 2026 will surprise me as I intend to paint, draw, and write a lot more.
Wishing you a creative and fun new year whilst finding yourself exploring your own boundaries and enjoy making the best new memories in 2026!
